Join the 2009 Auction Benefit Committee
We are delighted to announce that the 20th Anniversary Heart & Soul Charitable Fund Auction will be held at Christie's Auction house located at Rockefeller Plaza in New York on February 19, 2009. We are honored to present the inaugural Forrest Church Award for humanitarian service to former President Bill Clinton. President Clinton has demonstrated courage and perseverance throughout his public life, and promotes and provides for a number of noble causes through The William J. Clinton Foundation.
We invite you to join us as a part of this annual event, which is the principal fundraiser for the Heart & Soul Charitable Fund. The celebration will include a Cocktail Hour and Silent Auction followed by the presentation of the Forrest Church Award and a speech by President Clinton. Afterward, a Live Auction will be presided over by Stephen Lash, Chairman of Christie's, North and South America.
The mission of the Heart & Soul Charitable Fund is to provide aid to segments of the New York area community who are living in marginalized situations by identifying and directly funding groups for whom small grants and ongoing involvement of the Fund will make a major difference. The Fund is an important source of funding, support and advice for its selected grantees and aims to build long-term relationships.
There are a growing number of organizations that benefit from the funding that the Heart & Soul Charitable Fund provides. Monday Night Hospitality is a feeding program that serves a sit-down four course dinner every week to over 240 men and women in need, who not only come for fresh food but also companionship, dignity and compassion. The Booker T. Washington Center is comprised of several programs that focus on children and adult literacy in Harlem in order to break the cycle of inadequate education, poverty and despair. We recently presented grants to three new programs, all of which benefit underprivileged children in New York City. This is a time when we need your help more than ever as the list of small programs that turn to us for assistance expands.
Your support of the Heart & Soul Charitable Fund is critical, and we are pleased to invite you to join the Benefit Committee this year. For those who have been Benefit Committee Members in the past, we thank you and hope we can count on your continued support. For those who have not yet been a member of the Benefit Committee, please consider joining this year. There are special benefits associated with each level; please read the attached outline for more detail and complete the Membership Acceptance Form to become a member.
Even if you choose not to join the Benefit Committee at this time, we hope to see you at the Auction in February. Invitations will be sent in the next few months and will include details on individual ticket purchases. We look forward to an enjoyable, successful event! Thank you for your support.
