- A woman without job skills is sitting in front of a computer learning to use Word, Excel, and other computer based programs today.
- A teen-age boy is donning a jacket and tie and warming up his voice before he and the fellow members of his choir step out onto the platform to perform this evening.

Your Contribution Matters
As an organization that increases its own effectiveness through reliance upon the extensive work and skills of volunteers, your dollars are transmitted to direct service programs in New York City, many of which, themselves, utilize the commitment of volunteers. For example, the two feeding programs we support, use volunteers to cook and serve nearly 200 people a hot meal once a week. Programs serving youth in East Harlem offer one-on-one tutoring and library services through volunteers at after school centers and in the public schools.
Our grants are administrated by volunteer Grants Committee members who review applications, make on-site visits, and keep up-to-date on the progress of each organization funded.
