This year The Bridge Fund, through a combination of financial education and small individual loans, will prevent over 300 families from becoming homeless. For an average of $1600 per loan, families of the working poor that are at risk will be able kept out of public shelters saving taxpayers about $36,000 annually. In addition to providing temporary loans, The Bridge Fund also offers the following services:
- Helps clients in accessing public entitlements
- Can relocate families to less expensive, permanent housing
- Provides financial assistance in the form of interest-free loans
- Offers grants in cases of extreme hardship
- Negotiates with landlords and works with housing court officials for clients
- Secures financial participations from other social service agencies, as well as from government resources
